8.5 million UAH of losses on the provision of military units: officials of the Dnieper City Council received suspicions
Night vision monoculars, thermal imagers, generators and other property were purchased at inflated prices. In addition, the quality and technical characteristics of the delivered goods did not correspond to those stated in the contracts. For the crime, officials face up to 12 years in prison.
According to the police, contracts for the supply of a certain type of goods were concluded between one of the Departments of the Dnieper City Council and a number of commercial structures. In particular, monoculars, thermal imagers, generators, jacks, pumps, compressors, tools, etc.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers found out that the delivered goods were purchased at inflated prices, and their quality and technical characteristics did not correspond to those specified in the contracts. Therefore, on the basis of certified official documents, the contractor illegally received 8.5 million hryvnias from the local budget.
At present, the director of the department of the Dnieper City Council and the head of the department of the same department have been informed of suspicions under parts 4 and 5 of Art. 191 (Appropriation, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Both defendants were presented with a petition to appear in court in order to choose a preventive measure.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 12 years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and with confiscation of property.
