US $45,000 for connecting the premises to communications: in Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained the head of the condominium
For the specified amount, the man promised to contribute to the conclusion of contracts for electricity and water supply of non-residential premises owned by the victim on property rights. Now for his actions, the detainee faces up to seven years in prison.
In the course of working out operational information, the investigators of the Obolon Police Department together with the employees of the Strategic Investigations Department in the city of Kyiv and under the procedural leadership of the Obolon District Prosecutor's Office exposed the illegal activities of the head of the condominium.
The head of the Obolon Police Department Viktor Mykhailenko said that the man demanded money from a local resident for the approval of electricity and water supply projects, as well as the conclusion of a contract for the provision of housing and communal services for the premises belonging to the victim on property rights:
“At first, the man demanded $60,000. Yesterday, June 7, the attacker was exposed while receiving illegal benefits in the amount of 45 thousand US dollars. The man, born in 1980, was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. On the spot, money, bank cards, mobile phone were seized from him, and during an authorized search in the premises of condominiums, contracts for the provision of housing and communal services and documentation for accounting of technical equipment of apartment units were seized as tangible evidence”.
The investigator, in agreement with the Obolonsk District Prosecutor's Office, was informed of the suspicion of committing the crime provided for in Part 4 of Art. 368-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - bribery of an official of a legal entity of private law, regardless of the organizational and legal form, with the claim of unlawful profit. The defendant is threatened with imprisonment for a term of three to seven years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
