42 wounded, 6 dead, among them a child: Igor Klymenko on the consequences of the attack on Chernihiv
42 people were injured, 6 were killed as a result of a missile attack by the Russians on the center of Chernihiv. This was stated by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klymenko on the air of the tele-marathon. Among the dead is a 6-year-old girl.
“The girl is 6 years old, the patrol police tried to give her first aid. They imposed a tourniquet, because there was a very great loss of blood. Unfortunately, doctors could not save the child. Her mother is in extremely serious condition,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
36 victims are currently in medical facilities, including police and judicial officers. All those injured at the time of the attack were in the central square of Chernihiv, or left the church after consecration.
“The rocket hit directly into the drama theater in the central square. People gathered in nearby cafes and shops. The roofs of the nearest houses of the old part of the city are destroyed,” Igor Klymenko added.
All services are now working at the scene: they eliminate the consequences of the shelling and record the crime. Law enforcement officers are monitoring the situation to prevent looting.
