36th anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy: the Ministry of Internal Affairs honored the memory of law enforcers-liquidators
Today, April 26, on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine commemorated the victims of the disaster.
The celebrations were attended by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Bogdan Drapyaty, State Secretary Yuriy Lubkovych, Chairman of the NGO “Ukrainian Association “Chernobyl” of Bodies and Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vasyl Durdinets, heads of units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of the “Association of Veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine”, “All-Ukrainian Union of Disabled Persons of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine”, “Organization of Veterans of the Central Apparatus of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine” and Chernobyl veterans.
Exactly 36 years ago, the Ukrainian people suffered a catastrophe that changed the lives of millions of people. From the first minutes of the nuclear tragedy to the struggle, hundreds of thousands of our compatriots, including 33 thousand employees of the fire protection, internal affairs bodies and servicemen of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
There was a solemn laying of flowers at the Monument in honor of the employees and veterans of the internal affairs bodies who participated in the elimination of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl NPP. The memory of the deceased colleagues of the liquidators was honored with a minute of silence.
In all the years since the day of the tragedy, the Ministry has not left alone with its problems anyone who was at the center of events at that hour of distress. Together with the Ukrainian Association “Chernobyl” of bodies and troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the liquidators were constantly provided with legal, social assistance, medical support and housing.
We will always remember the heroic feat of the liquidators of the consequences of the accident, first of all the heroes of the firefighters. Low bow for you!
