13 police units resumed work in de-occupied territories — Alexey Sergeev
The National Police provided stabilization measures in 352 settlements liberated from Russian invaders in Kharkiv, Kherson region and Donetsk region. This was announced today, October 20, by the Head of the Department of Organizational and Analytical Support and Operational Response of the National Police of Ukraine during a briefing at the Military Media Center.
Alexey Sergeev stressed that the National Police, in cooperation with the units of the Security and Defense Forces, is restoring its presence, carrying out stabilization measures for the safe existence and return to normal life of residents of previously occupied settlements of Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kherson regions.
“The work of 10 police units in Kharkiv region has been resumed (in Izyum, Kupyansk, Balakliya, Volchansk, Liptsi, Velykyi Burluk, Barvinkove, Borova, Dvorichna, Shevchenkove). Here, the police documented 1774 war crimes. In the de-occupied territories, 572 bodies of dead civilians were found, including 20 children — 412 of them were identified. 23 places where Russians illegally detained and tortured our citizens were recorded,” the head of the National Police Department said.
Also Alexey Sergeyev reported on the work of the police in the liberated territories of Donetsk and Kherson regions:
“The work of police units in Lyman city of Donetsk region and villages of Vysokopillya, Velyka Oleksandrivka of Kherson region has been resumed. Investigative units documented 16 war crimes in the de-occupied territories of Donetsk region, where 181 bodies of dead civilians, including 5 children, were found. Police identified 155 bodies of the dead, established 1 torture chamber. 156 war crimes were also recorded in the Kherson region, the police found 9 bodies of dead civilians, three of them were identified. We documented two places of deprivation of liberty where the Russian military illegally detained local residents.”
In addition, the head of the department said that the explosives service of the NPU examined more than 1816 hectares of the de-occupied territories of Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kherson regions, seized 26575 explosive objects, 4278 of them were destroyed.
The representative of the National Police noted that law enforcement officers constantly carry out measures to identify persons who carry out subversive, terrorist or collaborative activities. Thus, 200 criminal proceedings have been initiated in the de-occupied territories on such facts.
Nasamkinets Oleksiy Sergeev stressed that police officers of Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv regions continue to evacuate people from the areas of hostilities, provide assistance to citizens at gathering places and accompanying them to safe regions. Nearly 7,000 people have been evacuated in the past two weeks.
