Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine continue to detect and expel illegal migrants
During the full-scale war, Kharkiv region experienced an outflow of foreign citizens. Both those who properly documented their whereabouts and those who did not follow the necessary rules.
Kharkiv has always been the capital of international students. For example, in 2021, almost 20 thousand foreigners from 110 countries studied in Kharkiv. Unfortunately, today, according to the Department of Temporary Residence of Foreigners, the number of legal students is decreasing every day. Some lose their permission to stay in the country due to graduation, and some consciously do not extend their stay in Ukraine and remain illegally.
In particular, the Department of Migration Control, Countering Illegal Migration and Readmission works with such migrants. During the full-scale war under the leadership of the head of the Main Department of the State Health Service in the Kharkiv region, the management was strengthened: the management and personnel were updated.
In addition to international students in Kharkiv, there is a category of violators who hide: they work informally and live in the region, which makes it difficult to find them. A Georgian citizen has been in Ukraine illegally since 2006 and has not even tried to legalize. After the discovery of a migrant in the city. Zolochiv, Kharkiv region, decided to forcibly return him to his country of origin.
As the migration officers found out, the man was hiding and did not fulfill the preliminary decision on return, which grossly violated the migration legislation of Ukraine.
As a result of these actions, the illegal migrant was forcibly expelled. From now on, he is banned from entering Ukraine for 5 years.
In modern Ukraine there can be no place for manifestations of violations of migration legislation, therefore the coordinated work of the Main Directorate of the State DMS in the Kharkiv region, the SBU and the Main Directorate of the NP in the Kharkiv region is ongoing.
It should be noted that the Department of Migration Control, Counteraction to Illegal Migration and Readmission of the Main Department of the State Fiscal Service in Kharkiv Oblast only in the first half of 2023 brought 293 foreign citizens to administrative responsibility. In particular:
- 192 illegal migrants have been identified;
- 52 decisions on forced return to the country of origin or to a third country were adopted;
- 3 decisions on forced expulsion were adopted;
- 3 illegal migrants were placed in PTPI;
- about 43 foreign citizens were issued court decisions banning entry into the territory of Ukraine.
We emphasize that in order not to delay the permitted period of stay in Ukraine, you should use the “Migration Calculator”, indicating information about the dates of arrivals and departures from the country during the controlled period
