In 2014, while serving in the internal forces, together with his brothers, a policeman with the nickname “Girya” resisted the offensive of militants of the so-called “DPR” near the airport in Donetsk, and in 2022 — held the defense of his native Mariupol.

In 2014, the law enforcement officer was in the epicenter of armed aggression of the militants of the so-called “DPR”. The task of his platoon was to protect a strategically important facility — a warehouse with rocket fuel and pyrotechnics. Their military unit was captured last, in June.

“We were in the ring. The militants persistently offered to join them, promised big money... Someone stayed. I understood that this was treason, and my home state was Ukraine. Only for her should be fought,” the law enforcement officer explains his position.

After the capture of Donetsk, the man left for Zaporozhye, and then joined the special battalion in Donetsk region. During the tasks, he got acquainted with the work of the rapid response department “Falcon”.

“I realized that I wanted to be among the fighters of the special forces and become part of the team,” says the fighter.

In 2015, “Girya” was already one of the “falcons”. And after the creation of the National Police, he passed re-certification and was transferred to the Corps of Operational and Sudden Action in the assault unit.

“Our main task is to provide security support during the detention of particularly dangerous criminals. We train a lot and improve our skills every day. Now, during the war, we hone theoretical knowledge in practice and direct all forces to arrest sabotage and intelligence groups and traitors,” says Girya.

On February 24, 2022, he met at the service. The first shots were heard near the city at night, and in the morning Russia began bombing the Left-bank area of Mariupol.

“On the first day of the war, we began evacuating the wounded. In the Eastern neighborhood, the first high-rise buildings were destroyed. Next, the occupiers began to use barrel-mounted long-range artillery and aviation. The whole city was engulfed in fire,” the cordivist recalls.

The policeman took the wounded to the hospital, evacuated people from burning houses, and carried warm things and food to bomb shelters with his brothers. When the enemy took the city into the ring and entered Mariupol, he carried out combat tasks together with the Ukrainian military - provided armed resistance.

During the execution of one of the special tasks, the policeman lost a colleague and comrade - Konstantin Telipail. “The hardest thing is to come to terms with the death of the people who have become your family. With whom he conducted more than one special operation, he met with a mortal danger, to whom he could entrust his life. A worthy fighter, a decent and honest man and friend died,” says Girya with pain.

Now the special agent continues to serve in the Donetsk region: evacuating civilians from the front line and neutralizing enemy saboteurs. And consolation for him is the family - mother and daughter, who are waiting for him and believe in their defender.

“We will definitely go home. We will destroy the enemy and preserve the borders of our state. It takes patience and courage. Victory for us!” — a confident KORDU fighter.
