Igor Klymenko: The primary task of the police is to help people who have suffered enough from the Russian invaders
“De-occupied settlements are saturated with both joy and pain. In contrast to the broken buildings, people's eyes are full of hope. There are few local residents left here. And they especially need police care. Employees of the Kherson Oblast Police from the first days of de-occupation arrived in the liberated towns and villages. The primary task is to help people who have suffered enough from the Russian invaders. Police officers conduct routine detours, communicate with locals, find out their needs,” the head of the National Police said.
He said that every day NPU workers accompany and deliver humanitarian aid. People who until recently fed Ukraine with their farm products are now left practically without a piece of bread, without electricity and water supply. Hectares of fertile land are mined, so explosives engineers work without rest to mine.
In parallel, investigators and forensics document the crimes of the Russian occupiers. This is an important area of work. At the coordination meeting, Igor Klymenko stressed the importance of cooperation with other law enforcement agencies in this process.
“We are now collecting people's testimonies and forming an evidence base. Since the beginning of the de-occupation in the Kherson region, the police opened 164 criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes of the Russian Federation. I am grateful to all employees of the National Police of Ukraine who work in these de-occupied territories. Your work is of great importance now. Strength to all! We will stand and win!”, — stressed the Head of the National Police of Ukraine.
