New Kherson patrolmen took the oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people (PHOTOS)

08.02.2016 12:35

On the same day they went to their first duty on the streets of the regional center.  The ceremony of taking oath was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov and the Head of the National Police of Ukraine Khatia Dekanoidze.

On February 8, 2016, in Kherson on the Dnepr embankment 302 new patrol police officers took the oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people.  The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, the head of the National Police of Ukraine Khatia Dekanoidze, heads of regional and local authorities.

According to the Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, this event is another step forward in the reform of the Ukrainian law enforcement system.  Kherson is the 12th city in Ukraine, where a new police patrol started to work.

3200 candidates for work in the new Kherson police have applied for a public competition in early autumn of 2015. Only 316 people passed this competition.  302 new patrol policemen successfully completed training course.  Less then one candidate in ten was successful.

81% of the patrolmen have college-level education;

20% of police officers - women;

One in seven new patrolmen took part in the ATO.

.

"Here are all of them - the best of the best.  Those policemen to whom believe both residents of Kherson and we, who are working in Kiev " - said Arsen Avakov.

Г

The head of MIA stressed that the key principle in the work of the new police force must be "To serve and protect" and not "to punish and provide criminal cover" despite the fact that the country is in the war now and occupied Crimea is nearby.  He wished the new policemen to be "front-line fighters" for changes and reform in Ukraine.

"Justice, honor, order - these are the things which police is responsible for.  The police mission is to help each person and to create a new system, based on which the new economy will grow.  Each of us in his/her place have to make a step forward to a new country. We are counting on you!" - commented Arsen Avakov.
