Arsen Avakov: Dnepropetrovsk - 950 new policemen took the oath!

17.01.2016 13:27

On January 17, 2016 in Dnepropetrovsk took place the ceremony of taking the oath by 950 new patrol policemen who have completed their training.  The ceremony was attended by deputy head of the National Police of Ukraine (NPU) Alexander Fatsevich,  management  of the Dnepropetrovsk regional NPU Department and local authorities.

"As in the song - "Despite the snow and rain...". Today at 11.00 am on the festival berth in Dnepropetrovsk new police patrolmen swore an oath of their loyalty to Ukraine" - commented Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov.

The oath to the Ukrainian people swore 950 policemen, selected from 8123 applicants.  Qualifying competition to enter new police passed 974 people, but only 950 were able to finish their training. Among them - 23% women, 86% new policemen have higher education, one in ten - participated in the ATO.  There are also many athletes (32 candidates to master of sport, 5 masters of sports, 1 master of sport at international level).  13% of new patrol policemen earlier served in the MIA (mostly in the MIA volunteer battalions "Dnepr-1" and "Sicheslav").

New  Dnepropetrovsk policemen were trained by a special instructor - Kirill Nedrya, covername Dotzent (Associate Professor), former Deputy Company Commander of the 93rd Brigade.  In August and September 2014 he played a prominent role in the defense of the new terminal of Donetsk airport.  He served a full term at the forefront and then was discharged.  Kirill is a historian, he is working on his PhD on the topic of "Upbringing of the aristocracy at the turn of 19-20 centuries". And now he is educating the aristocracy in the 21st century.

The new Dnepropetrovsk patrol police will be headed by senior police lieutenant Vladimir R. Bogonis - a former combat officer from the battalion "Dnepr-1", battle-tested during recent combat actions...

"He knows what it means to serve Ukraine.  He knows this as well as his 30 comrades-in-arms who were killed in battle for Ukraine..."  - stressed the Minister of Internal Affairs.

Dnepropetrovsk is the ninth city where a new police patrol started to work.  Since July last year new policemen are already patrolling the streets of Kiev, Lvov, Odessa, Kharkov, Lutsk, Uzhgorod, Khmelnytsky and Nikolaev.  Next in line - Ivano-Frankovsk (January 30), Kherson (February 6), Vinnitsa (February 14), Chernigov (February 21), Kremenchug (February 27).  And then - Cherkassy, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Chernovtsi, Rovno, Boryspol, Zaporozhyу, Ternopol, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk, Kirovograd, Kryvoi Rog, Severodonetsk-Lisichansk-Rubezhnoe, Mariupol and Sumy.

All in all, in May 2016 sixteen thousand new policemen will work throughout the country.

"Step by step we shall succeed.  And we shall try to go at a good clip - both in the creation of new units, and in re-certification of the former MIA employees. As to a new Dnepropetrovsk police  - it's a nice snow now and I wish them the happy trails!" -  said Arsen Avakov.
