Today, November 17, a working meeting was held at the Ministry of the Interior with the participation of the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the EU Consultative Mission (EUAM) and Folke Bernadotta (FBA), which was dedicated to the Gender Focal Point Network.

Deputy Head of EUAM Joëlle Vachter thanked the MIA for taking an active role in overcoming gender bias and assured the Mission's continued support for this initiative.

"The Gender Focal Point Network is a practical tool that is used in many countries around the world. Today, such a tool is first introduced in Ukraine, namely the Ministry of Internal Affairs. We at the CMCE support this activity and hope to see this innovative tool for promoting gender issues in action in the near future," - Mrs. Vachter remarked.

"The Gender Focal Point Network is a modern tool that will help the Ministry of Internal Affairs become a more dynamic and efficient structure and will also contribute to the creation of a non-discriminatory working climate based on mutual respect and equal rights and opportunities for women and men", - emphasized the deputy Minister for European Integration Anastasia Deeva.

It is anticipated that the main functions of the network will be monitoring the implementation of the action plan, advocating for gender equality, staff training, developing recommendations in the context of reforms at all levels, and providing the effective feedback.

At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Minister informed that the Gender Focal Point Network would fully work after the signing of the MoIA Action Plan to implement the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Peace, Women, Security" up to 2020.
It is worth mentioning that on November 14-16, 2017, training for the first 20 people from Gender Focal Point Network from the Ministry of Internal Affairs system staff was held with the assistance of the EUAM and the Folke Bernadotte Academy.
