Today, November 13, at the NATO Representative office in Ukraine, a meeting was held on the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women. Peace. Security " in the format "from general to general". The event was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, headed by First Deputy Minister Sergii Yarovii.
Appealing to the participants, the Head of the NATO Representative office in Ukraine Alexander Vinnikov said that meeting on such a level would help draw attention to the issue of women's participation in conflicts.
"Our goal is to draw attention to the great role women play in overcoming the conflict and in establishing peace. This issue is one of the most important activities of NATO in Ukraine," - he said.
First Deputy Interior Minister Serhii Yarovii emphasized that the implementation of the principle of gender equality in the internal affairs bodies is one of the priorities of the Ministry.
"The number of women in the civil protection service bodies and departments is 12.5% of the total number, in the State Emergency Service of Ukraine - 47.2%. In the State Border Guard Service, 24% of the personnel are women, 13% of which are officers. 21.8% of women work in the National Police.
The correlation of female servicemen in the National Guard to the number of male servicemen is 6.2%. However, we continue to develop the direction of ensuring gender equality and equal access to opportunities in the internal affairs bodies", - assured the first Deputy minister.
Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze noted significant achievements of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in establishing gender equality, namely the introduction of positions of advisers and contact persons on gender issues in the central departments of the administration of the internal affairs system.
"I am very grateful to the colleaguesfrom the Ministry of Internal Affairs for their active participation in the consideration of the gender factor at work. We must understand that the 1325 is not only about women, it is about a transparent society and equal opportunities for everyone, «- she said.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Internal Affairs created a working group whose purpose is the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325. It is headed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs on European integration Anastasia Deeva.
